Join us for a day trip to the Peak District.

This day out will take us to two beautiful Peak District towns - Bakewell and Buxton.

Bakewell's name is said to derive from the warm springs in the area.  The history of the town goes back beyond 11th century, with the Domesday book entry calling the town 'Badequella', meaning Bath-well. Bakewell was built on the West bank of the Wye at a spot where it was fordable and the site was probably occupied in Roman times (there is a Roman altar at Haddon Hall, found nearby).

Many take day trips to Bakewell to visit Bakewell Market,  the only market in the beautiful Peak District National Park. Steeped in history, the present day Market takes place every Monday, and hosts 162 Stalls giving Locals, Tourists, Day Trippers and Coach Parties a warm welcome.

Buxton is a spa town at the heart of the Peak District National Park in the county of Derbyshire, England.

Buxton is less than an hour journey from the cities Manchester, Sheffield, Stoke on Trent and Derby and an hour and a half from Nottingham. Set 1000 feet above sea level amidst the dramatic Peak District landscape, Buxton has been a popular holiday resort for centuries. Blessed with stunning scenery, magnificent architecture, a wealth of shops, a thriving arts scene and its world-famous spa water, Buxton has plenty to offer any visitor. The town is an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area including the Chatsworth House and Estate and the wealth of outdoor pursuits available in the Peak District National Park.
